Join Certified Sexuality Educator Katherine McLaughlin on Thursday, May 6 and 6, for this 12-credit hour CE course.
When it comes to talking about sexuality, people with disabilities are often excluded, almost as if they are incapable of having sexual thoughts, feelings and needs. In reality, they too are sexual beings who need the information and skills for making healthy decisions about sexuality. Though direct support providers or other professionals who work with people with developmental disabilities know that sexuality issues need to be addressed, they don’t necessarily feel comfortable or competent enough to do so. This in-service training will provide the information and tools you need to train direct support staff or other professionals so they can confidently talk one-on-one about sexuality with people with developmental disabilities. Each participant will review a copy of the Staff Training Curriculum Facilitator’s Guide which includes all the activities and handouts needed to lead staff training on How to talk One on One with People with Developmental Disabilities. This will help your agency or school have all the professionals able to address this sensitive topic.
